Scioto County, Administrative county in southern Ohio, United States.

Scioto County extends across 616 square miles at the intersection of the Scioto River and Ohio River, containing extensive forested regions and varied elevations.

The State of Ohio established Scioto County on March 24, 1803, naming it after the Native American term referring to the deer population in the region.

The Portsmouth River Days festival brings together residents for annual celebrations with parades, pageants, and performances along the Ohio River waterfront.

The Scioto County Board of Commissioners conducts weekly meetings every Thursday at 9:30 AM in Room 310 of the Portsmouth Courthouse.

The county contains Shawnee State Forest, which spans across the western section, offering extensive hiking trails and natural preservation areas.
