Lewis County, County administrative division in Tennessee, United States.

Lewis County is an administrative division in Tennessee located in the south-central part of the state, bordered by Hickman County to the north and Lawrence County to the south. The area contains the County Trustee Office and County Clerk Office, both located in the courthouse, which manage essential public services.

The territory was created in 1843 through the merger of parts from several neighboring counties to improve administration in what was then a densely settled area. The creation occurred through legislative action that divided land from five existing counties.

The Lewis County Fair brings together residents through agricultural exhibitions and craft displays that reflect regional traditions. The event serves as a gathering where the community shares knowledge and skills.

Visitors needing government services should go to the courthouse, where the County Trustee Office handles property tax matters and the County Clerk Office processes vehicle registrations. Both offices operate during regular business hours and provide essential services for residents and visitors.

Grinder's Stand, located near the geographic center of the county, preserves the story of explorer Meriwether Lewis, whose grave is marked by a memorial at this site. The place connects local geography with national historical heritage and draws history enthusiasts.
