Howell County, County in southern Missouri, United States

Howell County extends across 928 square miles of land in Missouri, with West Plains serving as the administrative center of the region.

The county formed from Oregon County on March 2, 1857, named after Josiah Howell, who established the first settlement in Howell Valley.

The Mark Twain National Forest within Howell County maintains natural spaces and provides outdoor recreation areas for the local population.

The county contains several transportation corridors, including U.S. Routes 60, 63, and 160, connecting residents to neighboring regions and metropolitan areas.

Four incorporated cities make up the county's urban centers: West Plains, Mountain View, Willow Springs, and Brandsville, each maintaining distinct municipal services.
