Parsippany-Troy Hills
Parsippany-Troy Hills, Township in Morris County, New Jersey
Parsippany-Troy Hills extends over 25 square miles of land, featuring residential neighborhoods, commercial districts, parks, and multiple unincorporated communities including Lake Hiawatha.
The township emerged from the division of Hanover Township through a referendum in 1928, marking a new administrative organization for the northern New Jersey region.
The name Parsippany originates from the Lenape Native American word parsipanong, which describes the way the river moves through the valley landscape.
The township provides direct access to major highways and maintains numerous parks, schools, and business centers serving its population of over 56,000 residents.
Lake Passaic covered half of the current township territory after the Wisconsin Glacier melted around 13,000 BCE, transforming the landscape from tundra to forest.
