Arch Bridge from the Boonton Ironworks

A local mason named John Carson Sr. built this bridge in 1866 to support a water pipe system serving the Boonton Ironworks. The structure was designed to meet the practical needs of the industrial operation nearby.

Local craftspeople used fieldstone from the region, a material choice that shows what materials were readily available to them.
