Fajardo

Fajardo is a municipality on the eastern coast of Puerto Rico with coastal territory dotted by offshore islets and beaches. The town centers around its natural harbors and proximity to smaller surrounding islands.

The municipality was founded in 1772 and later developed as a key eastern port. Following the 1898 American invasion, it became a major maritime hub for regional commerce and fishing.

Festive celebrations throughout the year bring together locals and visitors for music, traditional dances, and regional food that reflect Puerto Rican identity.

The Puerto del Rey Marina provides dock space and direct ferry access to nearby islands throughout the day. Waterfront restaurants and shops line the harbor area for visitor convenience.

The Las Cabezas de San Juan Nature Reserve protects a 19th century lighthouse surrounded by coral reefs and mangrove wetlands. This protected area showcases the marine ecosystems that define the region.
