Anoka, County seat in Minnesota, United States.

Anoka is a county seat in Minnesota that spreads across both sides of the Rum River with residential neighborhoods and commercial areas. The river forms a natural divide through the middle of the city, shaping its overall layout.

The city was established in 1844 and quickly grew with a school, store, and flour mill serving the local community. It became an important trading and milling center in the region during the 1800s.

The city celebrates Halloween each October with parades and festivities that have become central to local life and identity. These seasonal events draw visitors and give the place its character throughout the year.

Visitors will find a smaller city with good accessibility and basic services for daily needs. The river offers outdoor recreation opportunities and the central location makes it easy to explore different parts of town.

Local residents formed some of the earliest Union Army units during the Civil War after Confederate forces attacked Fort Sumter. This rapid military response shows the city's role during one of America's most important historical moments.
