Salisbury, Administrative center in Wicomico County, Maryland, United States
Salisbury is an administrative city in Wicomico County in eastern Maryland. Streets run between brick buildings for government offices, educational institutions and residential neighborhoods, while parks along the Wicomico River provide green spaces.
The settlement began in 1732 as a trading post at the head of a navigable river. It later received city status in 1854 and developed as a transport hub between the agricultural regions of the Delmarva Peninsula.
The downtown area along Main Street shows several 19th century buildings now housing shops and restaurants. On weekends, you'll often see people strolling past storefronts or pausing on benches outside cafés.
The city sits at the junction of two major highways, making it easy to reach by car. A regional airport offers connections to larger cities on the East Coast.
Freight trains still pass through the center, carrying agricultural products and industrial goods. You can occasionally hear the train horn as it crosses street intersections.
