Warren, County seat in Trumbull County, Ohio, United States.
Warren is a city on the Mahoning River in northeastern Ohio, roughly 14 miles (23 km) northwest of Youngstown. The settlement spreads across both banks of the river and serves as the seat of Trumbull County, with residential neighborhoods and commercial districts arranged around a historic downtown core.
Ephraim Quinby founded the settlement in 1798 on land he purchased from the Connecticut Land Company, naming it after surveyor Moses Warren. The town grew as a trading center during the 19th century and later developed through the steel industry and electrical manufacturing, drawing workers to the region.
The downtown district contains numerous 19th and 20th century buildings, including the Trumbull County Courthouse and Trumbull County Carnegie Law Library.
The downtown area can be explored on foot, with most public buildings and older structures concentrated within a few blocks. Visitors can find parking near the courthouse and library to access the central part of town comfortably.
The town was the first municipality in the United States to light its streets with electricity when Packard Electric introduced the system in the late 19th century. This early adoption of electric lighting made it a model for other communities across the country.
