Sidney

Sidney is a city situated in a valley along Lodgepole Creek in western Nebraska, positioned nine miles north of the Colorado state line. The city sits at the intersection of Interstate 80 and U.S. Route 385, providing access to truck stops, shopping centers, and dining options.

The Union Pacific Railroad founded Sidney in 1867, naming it after railroad president Sidney Dillon. The company built Fort Sidney nearby to protect railroad workers during the frontier period.

Fort Sidney preserves buildings from the military era, while Boot Hill Cemetery holds graves of soldiers stationed at this frontier post. These places tell the story of people who lived and worked here during that time.
