Troy, city in Lincoln County, Missouri, United States
Troy is a small city in Lincoln County, Missouri, with a historic downtown, several parks, and a commercial strip along Highway 47. Fairgrounds Park is one of the main green spaces in town and features sports fields alongside a pond.
The town grew around Woods Fort, a stockade built by early settlers during the War of 1812, now preserved as a small park at the corner of Main and Boone streets. Close by stands the Britton House, the first structure put up in the settlement.
The Main Street area still has family-run shops that give the downtown a lived-in, unhurried feel. Throughout the year, local parades, car shows, and seasonal festivals bring residents together along the same streets where the town first grew.
The downtown area is easy to walk, with sidewalks connecting the main points of interest within a short distance of each other. Those looking for more outdoor time can head to Cuivre River State Park nearby, which offers trails, fishing spots, and camping.
Each winter, Troy holds the Night of 1,000 Stars, an evening event where candles line the streets and horse-drawn carriage rides, caroling, and live music fill the downtown. Many visitors passing through town only discover the event by chance.
