Tampico

Tampico is a village in Whiteside County that extends across both Whiteside and Bureau counties, situated at the intersection of several local highways near Interstate 88. The settlement follows a traditional grid layout with residential areas surrounding the central business district.

The settlement developed in the 1870s around a station of the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad. This rail connection transformed the location into a regional transportation hub.
