Farmington Hills is a community in Oakland County, located roughly 22 miles northwest of Detroit in southeastern Michigan. The area combines residential neighborhoods with parks, schools, and commercial streets at an elevation around 860 feet (262 meters).
Arthur Power and Quaker families settled the area starting in 1824, originally calling it Quakertown. The community grew quickly after World War II and became an official city in 1978.
The Holocaust Memorial Center serves as a teaching space where visitors walk through exhibits displaying personal stories and artifacts. Guided tours and educational materials help people understand individual experiences during this period.
Farmington Public Schools operates eight elementary schools, three middle schools, and several high schools across the area. Most facilities and parks are easiest to reach by car since neighborhoods and shops are spread across different roads.
