Charlotte Motor Speedway, Motorsport racing track in Concord, North Carolina.
Charlotte Motor Speedway is an oval racing circuit measuring 2.4 km (1.5 miles) in length located in Concord, North Carolina. The complex also includes an infield track, a clay short track, a dirt track, and a drag racing facility.
The track opened for racing in June 1960 after construction started in July 1959. Promoter Bruton Smith and driver Curtis Turner founded the venue, which grew into one of NASCAR's major stops.
The venue hosts the Coca-Cola 600, one of the longest races on the NASCAR calendar, held every Memorial Day weekend. Tens of thousands of fans travel in to cheer drivers, camp on site, and live the tradition of American stock car racing.
The complex sits on Concord Parkway South and offers several seating areas, parking lots, and facilities accessible for around 95,000 spectators. Major events often require early arrival due to heavy traffic flow.
The track features a roval configuration, blending sections of the oval with parts of the infield course. This combination allows for both traditional stock car races and more technical competitions with left and right turns on tighter sections.
