PNC Music Pavilion, Open-air music venue in Charlotte, North Carolina.
PNC Music Pavilion is an open-air theatre and music venue in North Carolina that combines covered seating under a roof with sloping lawn sections beyond. The entire space holds up to 19000 people and provides clear sightlines to the stage from all areas.
The venue opened on July 4th 1991 as Blockbuster Pavilion and carried different names over the years under changing sponsors. The current designation has been in place since 2010 after a shift in sponsorship to PNC Bank.
The name comes from PNC Financial Services Group and has marked the venue since 2010. The site draws people from across the region who gather under the covered section or spread out on the open lawn beyond.
Parking is available on site and included in the ticket price while a box office opens Monday through Saturday for ticket sales. Early arrivals secure the best spots on the lawn and should bring a blanket or folding chairs.
Two large video screens flank the stage and reinforce visibility for all sections even when seated farther back on the lawn. The acoustics of the open grounds carry sound far and allow clear listening even without overhead cover.
