East Stroudsburg extends over 2.9 square miles in the Pocono Mountains region, situated 75 miles west of New York City and 102 miles north of Philadelphia.
Daniel Brodhead established Dansbury Manor in 1737 on a 1,000-acre property along Brodhead Creek, which later experienced a significant attack by 200 Native Americans in 1755.
East Stroudsburg Railroad Station, constructed in 1864, now functions as a community center where residents gather for local activities and social events.
The Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad station serves as a central transportation hub, connecting the borough to major regional destinations through Interstate 80 and Route 209.
The borough maintains two primary institutions: East Stroudsburg University and Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, which originated as General Hospital in 1915.
