Construction began in 1996 on the former site of the Knabe Piano Factory in downtown Baltimore. The Baltimore Ravens played their first home game here in September 1998 after two years of building work.
The Ravens Marching Band performs before games while fans gather at RavensWalk, a festive area connecting the stadium to Camden Yards baseball park. Thousands of supporters wear purple jerseys and show their support through chants and fight songs throughout the event.
The gates open two hours before kickoff, and visitors can park in several lots that become accessible four and a half hours before the game starts. On game days, arriving earlier is advisable as streets around the stadium become busy with traffic.
A piano keyboard mosaic decorates the southwest corner, commemorating the Knabe Piano Factory that once produced instruments at this site. The floor pattern shows several octaves of black and white keys set into a small plaza near the main entrance.
