Mt. Lebanon, Residential township in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States.

Mt. Lebanon is a residential township in Allegheny County, spread across about 6 square miles south of Pittsburgh. The area features tree-lined streets, scattered parks, and shopping districts that together create an established suburban community.

The township grew from farmland and was officially incorporated in 1912. The arrival of streetcar service in 1901 and the opening of the Liberty Tunnel in 1924 accelerated its transformation into a modern suburb.

The community takes its name from a hilltop that reminded early settlers of Mount Lebanon. Walking through the residential areas, you notice how the architecture reflects the shift from farmland to an affluent suburb over time.

The township maintains fifteen parks spread across about 200 acres, along with an Olympic-size swimming pool, an ice rink, and various sports courts. Visitors will find all basic recreational facilities needed for family activities and athletic pursuits in this area.

The township adopted a council-manager government system in 1928, making it one of Pennsylvania's pioneers in this administrative approach. This method of governance proved effective and became a model that other communities eventually adopted.
