Beaver Dam, Fourth-class city in Dodge County, Wisconsin.

Beaver Dam stretches over 8.70 square miles, including 7.31 square miles of land and 1.38 square miles of water along Beaver Dam Lake.

The settlement began in 1841 when Thomas Mackie and Joseph Goetschius established their homes, growing to a population of 100 by 1843.

The name originates from Native American heritage, as Chippewa people called this location Okwaanim, referring to the beaver dams in the area.

The Beaver Dam Area Chamber of Commerce provides resources for businesses, employment opportunities, and community information through their directory and visitor guide.

During World War II, Camp Beaver Dam operated as a prisoner of war facility, housing approximately 300 German soldiers in 1944.
