Two Lights State Park, Coastal state park in Cape Elizabeth, US

Two Lights State Park is a coastal park on rocky headlands spanning about 41 acres of Maine shoreline. The grounds feature walking trails, a playground, and picnic tables positioned to overlook the bay and Atlantic waters.

The park was built on the grounds of a World War II coastal defense installation, and concrete bunkers and an observation tower from that era still remain. This military past shapes the landscape visitors see today.

The place takes its name from two lighthouses that have long defined this rocky shoreline. One lighthouse gained fame through a well-known painting and continues to draw art enthusiasts today.

The park is open year-round and works well for hiking, picnicking, and ice skating on designated ponds during winter. It's best to check conditions before your visit to see which trails are accessible.

The eastern lighthouse here remains operational and sends its automated beam across the water for many miles. This makes it an important navigation aid for ships moving through the waters offshore.
