Gillette Castle State Park, Stone castle and state park in Lyme, United States.

The 14,000-square-foot stone fortress stands 200 feet above the Connecticut River, surrounded by 184 acres of Connecticut woodland and hiking trails.

William Gillette, famous for portraying Sherlock Holmes, built this medieval-style castle between 1914 and 1919, incorporating personal design elements throughout the structure.

The castle interior displays theatrical influences through architectural features, including built-in furniture and innovative table tracks reflecting Gillette's acting background.

The park maintains regular hours from 8 AM until sunset, with castle tours available daily during summer and weekends from Memorial Day through Columbus Day.

The property contains a narrow-gauge railroad track system that Gillette constructed to transport guests around his estate on miniature trains.
