First Baptist Church of Essex, Connecticut, Baptist church building in Essex, Connecticut.
The First Baptist Church features white clapboard exterior walls and a tripartite facade with a central frustum supporting a prominent cupola.
Constructed in 1846 by architect Minard Lafever, this church lost its original steeple in 1925 when lightning struck the structure.
The congregation maintains an active music ministry program that includes regular choir performances and congregational singing during weekly services.
