Description
Fort Christian is a stone fortification with distinctive diamond-shaped bastions at its corners, featuring walls between 3 and 6 feet thick. The structure overlooks the harbor and now contains a museum within its walls.
History
The fort was built between 1672 and 1680 under Governor Jørgen Iversen Dyppel's oversight and served as the hub of Danish colonial administration. It played a central role in controlling Danish trade and managing the islands for decades.
