Camp Geiger, Marine Corps training base in Jacksonville, North Carolina, US.

Camp Geiger is a Marine Corps training base in Jacksonville, North Carolina, dedicated to infantry instruction and combat preparation. The facility operates specialized courses including a 59-day infantry program and a 29-day combat training program for non-infantry Marines throughout the year.

The base began in 1941 as Tent Camp No. 1, organized in a grid pattern with seven north-south streets and six east-west streets. It was later named after General Roy Geiger and developed into the Marines' primary infantry training facility.

Four monuments near the main gate honor Lance Corporal Julius Foster, fallen service members from Lebanon, veterans of the 4th Marine Division, and General Roy Geiger. These memorials reflect the branch's commitment to remembering those who served and sacrificed.

Keep in mind that this is an active military facility with limited public access and specific entry requirements. Plan your visit by checking entry procedures beforehand to avoid delays or restrictions.

The chapel, built between 1941 and 1942, is the only structure remaining from the original World War II tent camp era. This historic building provides a rare window into the base's earliest days and stands as a tangible link to that period.
