Yanceyville, County seat in Caswell County, North Carolina, US

Yanceyville is the county seat in Caswell County, North Carolina, situated in the Piedmont region. The town includes several business districts centered downtown, along Highway 86, and on West Main Street.

The town was established in 1791 as Caswell Court House and renamed in 1833 to honor U.S. Congressman Bartlett Yancey Jr. This name change marked a turning point in the community's identity.

The Richmond-Miles History Museum and the Yanceyville Museum of Art display collections about the region's past and works by local artists. Visitors can explore how the town developed over generations through these exhibits.

The town offers basic services including emergency response, public works, and planning departments for both visitors and residents. The different business areas are spread across town, so exploring them by car or on foot takes some planning.

The courthouse blends Italian Romanesque with classical elements in an architectural combination rarely seen in North Carolina. This distinctive style makes it a notable example of design from the Victorian era in the region.
