Located 15 miles southwest of Downtown Boston, Canton extends across 19.6 square miles of land with the Canton River flowing through its center point.

The Wamsutta archaeological site in Canton contains evidence of Paleo-Indian settlements dating back 12,140 years, preceding European colonization of the region.

The town holds regular public meetings where residents participate in local governance decisions, maintaining direct involvement in community development and policy making.

Canton provides access to three major highways - Interstates 93, 95, and Route 128 - plus MBTA commuter rail service on the Providence/Stoughton Line.

Paul Revere established the first copper rolling mill in the United States in Canton during 1801, marking the beginning of American copper manufacturing.
