Niskayuna, Suburban town in Schenectady County, US
Niskayuna extends across 15 square miles of land in southeastern Schenectady County, bordered by the Mohawk River along its northern edge.
Dutch farmers established the first European settlements in Niskayuna during the late 17th century, avoiding oversight from the New Netherland trading government.
The annual Niska-Day celebration brings together residents every May with a family foot race, parade, fair activities, and evening fireworks display.
The town provides numerous recreational facilities, including parks, sports fields, and walking trails, serving a population of 23,278 residents as of 2020.
The Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, established in 1946 through a partnership between General Electric and the US government, operates within Niskayuna.
