Tullahoma

This settlement sits in Coffee and Franklin counties in southern Middle Tennessee, roughly 60 miles southeast of Nashville near a former Cherokee area. The town serves as the administrative center of Coffee County and spreads across gentle hills with residential streets, commercial districts, and several educational institutions within its limits.

The settlement began in 1852 as a railroad construction camp for the Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway, taking its name from Choctaw language meaning red rock. The rail line brought new residents and businesses, making the location a key transportation hub in the region and later assuming administrative duties for Coffee County.

Neighborhoods maintain traditions in residential areas around the downtown, where public gatherings often feature local cooking and regional crafts. Small diners serve typical Southern meals, while shops offer goods from nearby farms, giving visitors a sense of everyday rural life in Tennessee.

Visitors reach the town via state highways connecting it to larger cities in Tennessee, and the downtown area can be explored on foot. The terrain is mostly flat with some hilly sections, making walks through residential neighborhoods and commercial streets manageable without special equipment.

A complex aerospace testing center operates outside the downtown with wind tunnels and simulation facilities used for space engineering research worldwide. Workshops on site also manufacture sports equipment such as baseballs and golf clubs, adding industrial variety to the town beyond the technology sector.
