Constructed on a former U.S. Steel railroad yard, Sandcastle Waterpark opened its doors to the public in July 1989 under Kennywood Entertainment management.
The Mon-Tsunami wave pool and Dragon's Den slide replaced former attractions including miniature golf, go-kart track, and beach volleyball courts in 1999 and 2010.
The park provides extensive facilities including food stands, picnic areas, locker rentals, and seasonal passes for families seeking regular summer entertainment.
Palace Entertainment, a subsidiary of Spain-based Parques Reunidos, operates this water park alongside three sister locations: Kennywood, Idlewild Park, and Lake Compounce.
