Greenfield Bridge, Deck arch bridge in Pittsburgh, US

The Greenfield Bridge spans 466 feet across Four Mile Run valley, connecting Greenfield and Squirrel Hill neighborhoods with a 30-foot-wide roadway and two sidewalks.

Following the collapse of a wooden structure in 1921, a concrete arch bridge served from 1923 until 2015, when engineers determined complete replacement was necessary.

The bridge reconstruction project in 2017 incorporated elements from its predecessor, including restored stone ornaments that maintain connection with local architectural heritage.

Two dedicated bicycle paths and widened vehicle lanes improve traffic flow, while green-painted steel elements match the neighborhood's identity.

The deteriorating condition of the previous bridge required installation of protective netting and construction of a secondary structure beneath to shield vehicles from falling debris.
