Acquavella Galleries, Art gallery in Upper East Side, Manhattan, USA
Acquavella Galleries operates from a five-story French neo-classical townhouse at 18 East 79th Street between Madison and Fifth Avenues in Manhattan.
Nicholas Acquavella established the gallery at 598 Madison Avenue in 1921, specializing initially in Italian Renaissance paintings for American collectors and museums.
The gallery exhibits works from Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Cubism, and Surrealism, featuring artists like Monet, Picasso, Matisse, and contemporary creators.
The gallery maintains locations in New York and Palm Beach, offering curated exhibitions of 19th, 20th, and 21st century art throughout the year.
In 1990, the gallery formed Acquavella Modern Art with Sotheby's auction house, acquiring 2,300 works from the Pierre Matisse Gallery collection.
