Andrew Rabb House, Colonial house in German Township, Pennsylvania, United States.
The Andrew Rabb House is a 2.5-story stone building in German Township, Pennsylvania, featuring a regular stone facade and five symmetrical window bays across its front. The structure sits on about 0.8 acres of land north of Masontown along Pennsylvania Route 166.
The house was built in 1773 and served as a residence for Andrew Rabb, a successful distiller. The owner later became involved in the Whiskey Rebellion in Fayette County, a significant uprising during the early American period.
The residence displays Georgian features with its balanced stone facade and evenly spaced windows, typical of the colonial period. The careful design reflects the prosperity and sophistication that was cultivated in this region during the 18th century.
The house is best reached by car, as it sits in a rural area away from main roads. Visitors should allow time to explore the surroundings and appreciate the historical importance of the location.
The building has remained remarkably unchanged since its construction and preserves colonial-era building elements that are rarely still intact in their original form. This completeness makes it a rare example of early American residential construction in Pennsylvania.
