Association of Exempt Firemen Building

The two-story Italianate brick building at 213 Bloomfield Street features tall windows, decorative cornices, and a symmetrical facade with ornamental details.

Architect Francis G. Himpler designed this building in 1870 as a gathering place for retired firefighters who served the Hoboken community for many years.

The museum displays firefighting equipment, photographs, and memorabilia that document the evolution of fire protection services in Hudson County since the 19th century.

Visitors can explore the firefighting exhibits and historical collections during weekend hours from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM throughout the year.

The National Register of Historic Places listed this structure on March 30, 1984, recognizing its role in preserving local firefighting heritage.
