Bailey Hall, Greek Revival auditorium at Cornell University, Ithaca, United States
Bailey Hall is the largest auditorium at Cornell University, featuring a columned entrance portico and grand stairway approach. Inside, the space accommodates audiences for concerts, lectures, and university events in a classical auditorium layout.
The building was designed in 1912 by the architecture firm Green & Wicks in Greek Revival style. Recognition as a historic structure came when it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
This hall has hosted a long-running concert series bringing world-class musicians and performers to campus for generations. The venue embodies the university's commitment to making performing arts central to student and community life.
Visitors should check ahead for scheduled events, as the hall hosts a rotating program of concerts and lectures throughout the year. Arriving early gives you better seating options and time to appreciate the classical architecture before performances begin.
The plaza in front received a major update in 2007 that introduced bluestone pavers and wooden benches fashioned from single timber pieces. One of these benches was crafted from a single Oregon Douglas fir log, creating an unusual blend of natural wood within the classical stone setting.
