Benton, Federal style residence in Loudoun County, United States.

Benton is a two-story brick house in Loudoun County featuring five window bays along the front. The residence includes a center hall with two three-bay wings extending from the main body of the house.

William Benton built this brick house between 1831 and 1833, drawing inspiration from architectural styles observed during his travels to Wales. The house was completed during a period of growth in Loudoun County.

The interior woodwork shows skilled craftsmanship from Virginia builders of the Federal period in the early 1800s. These details remain visible today and reveal the quality of work that local artisans could achieve.

The property includes several outbuildings such as a large three-story brick barn and a separate laundry house that show how daily life and work were organized. Visitors can explore the grounds and see the different functional spaces that made up the estate.

The builder was more than just a homeowner; he was a brick maker who supplied materials for many early houses in the nearby Middleburg area while overseeing production at a neighboring estate. This dual role reveals how local craftsmen were often involved in multiple trades during this period.
