Ebenezer Baptist Churches, Greek Revival church structure in Loudoun County, Virginia.

Ebenezer Baptist Churches is a religious complex in Loudoun County, Virginia, consisting of an original stone meetinghouse and a later building constructed in Greek Revival style. Both structures sit alongside a cemetery with gravestones dating back to the early 1800s, creating a historic site that spans multiple generations.

The Baptist congregation established their first meetinghouse at this site in 1769, with the stone structure completed around 1806. A second building was added in 1855 and reflected theological shifts happening within American Baptist communities of that era.

Local artist Lucien Whiting Powell created decorative tromp l'oeil designs inside the newer church building in 1876, which visitors can still see today. These painted details show the care taken to beautify the interior spaces.

Both church buildings and the cemetery grounds are accessible for visitors to explore at a leisurely pace. Gravestones provide a tangible connection to the people who worshipped and lived in this area over the centuries.

The dual structures represent a physical manifestation of theological divisions that split Baptist communities in the 1800s between Old School and New School movements. Seeing both buildings together tells the story of how disagreements over doctrine literally shaped the landscape of American religious life.
