Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls is a waterfall in Nantahala National Forest that plunges over granite rocks in a dramatic drop. The water descends approximately 45 feet and creates a natural formation that projects outward from the surrounding cliff face.

The original Highway 64 ran directly behind the waterfall until ice formation created safety hazards that forced the road to close to vehicle traffic. This realignment made the site safer and more accessible for visitors.

The waterfall represents a significant feature of Macon County's natural landscape, drawing photographers and nature enthusiasts throughout the seasons.

A marked parking area sits beside Highway 64, offering straightforward access to the falls, located roughly 2 miles north of Highlands. The lot is positioned close to the road, making a visit quick and simple.

A paved path lets visitors walk directly behind the falling water and experience the cascade from below. This unusual perspective offers a rare view of the power and form of the natural phenomenon.
