Cedariver

Cedariver is a protected natural area in Millis along the Charles River, featuring a mix of open fields, woodlands, and wetland areas. The property includes approximately one mile of riverfront and provides access to multiple habitat types within a compact space.

The land was formerly called Baker Reservation and was donated to The Trustees of Reservations in 2004 by the Baker family. This transfer established the area as a protected space for ongoing conservation efforts.

The reserve functions as an educational space where visitors learn about local ecosystems and environmental conservation through organized programs and self-guided exploration.

Visitors enter through a trailhead on Forest Road with trails suitable for hiking, boating access to the river, and winter activities. Conditions vary seasonally, so checking local weather and trail status before visiting is helpful for planning.

The property maintains active farm fields alongside wild natural spaces on the same land. This blend of agricultural use and nature preservation is uncommon for modern reserves and shows how different land uses can coexist.
