Chatfield Trail, Weg in den Vereinigten Staaten
Chatfield Trail is a hiking path in Connecticut that stretches around four and a half miles through forest areas south of Chatfield Hollow State Park. The route passes through rocky terrain, Cockaponset State Forest, and Forster Pond State Park, featuring streams, large stones, and a narrow rock formation called the Fat Man Squeeze.
The trail sits on ancestral land of the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan peoples who have deep historical ties to this region. The path itself has been shaped by many years of foot traffic and regular use by local residents and visitors.
Wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring water, especially for warmer days or when exploring the rockier sections. The trail is marked for walkers and easy to navigate, but unsuitable for strollers or bikes because of the uneven, rocky terrain throughout.
Along the route stands the Fat Man Squeeze, a narrow vertical crack through a cliff that hikers can carefully pass through. This unusual rock formation provides visitors with a touch of adventure that sets it apart from an ordinary woodland walk.
