Dortch Plantation, Plantation house in Scott, Arkansas
The Dortch Plantation features a two-and-a-half-story residence with fourteen-foot ceilings, a high hipped roof, and square brick columns with Ionic capitals.
The plantation expanded from 1,600 acres in 1885 to over 7,000 acres by 1913, supporting approximately 100 tenant families who cultivated cotton and soybeans.
The residence contains 30 rooms across 11,000 square feet, showcasing preserved antebellum furnishings and distinct pressed tin ceiling designs in each room.
The property now serves as a venue for weddings, parties, and receptions, offering visitors access to the main house and surrounding historic farm structures.
The plantation grounds include gardens designed by Arkansas landscape designer P. Allen Smith and maintain twenty-five original farm structures from 1888 to 1930.
