Fenwick Island State Park

Fenwick Island State Park stretches along about three miles of shoreline with undeveloped beach, protected dunes, and varied coastal habitats. The park combines ocean beaches with access to Little Assawoman Bay, offering different water activities in separate settings.

A lifesaving station stood on this land in the late 1800s to help shipwreck victims. During World War II, a fire observation tower was built for coastal defense.

The shore draws people who swim, surf, and join environmental education activities that connect visitors to the local coast. Summer months bring the most activity to these beaches.

The park provides free beach wheelchairs and marked areas for vehicles used in surf fishing. A bathhouse with changing rooms and a snack bar is on-site for visitor comfort.

The land hosts salt-loving plants and moisture-dependent bird species in specialized habitats. These environments surprise many visitors who mainly expect sandy beaches.
