Namangan Region, Administrative region in eastern Fergana Valley, Uzbekistan
The Namangan region spans 7,440 square kilometers along the Syr Darya River, bordered by Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and three Uzbek regions.
Following destructive earthquakes in the 17th century, inhabitants from Shahristan-Ahsikent relocated to Namangan, establishing the foundation of the current regional capital.
The region maintains traditional craftsmanship centers, with Chust producing internationally recognized knives and artisans creating Beqasam silk garments.
The region contains 690 educational institutions, including Namangan State University, while its economy focuses on cotton production and textile manufacturing.
Natural resources in the region include substantial deposits of uranium, gold, diamonds, and silver, particularly concentrated in the Kosonsoy and Pop districts.
