Chichiriviche, Venezuela
Chichiriviche is a small city in Falcón, Venezuela, serving as a departure point for boat trips to nearby islands and cays. The town has two main docks where visitors board small boats to reach destinations like Cayo Muerto, Cayo Peraza, Cayo Sal, and Cayo Pelón.
Chichiriviche began as a fishing settlement where generations of families relied on the sea for their livelihood. It later developed into a tourist hub as its proximity to Morrocoy National Park and the islands attracted growing numbers of visitors.
Chichiriviche takes its name from indigenous language meaning a place by the water. The community revolves around fishing, and visitors see locals preparing boats and selling their catch at the dock throughout the day.
The main street has shops selling food, ice, drinks, and swimwear for your needs. The port area has simple hotels, guesthouses, and restaurants where visitors can eat seafood and, in the evening, browse local crafts and souvenirs at small stalls.
The nearby Cuare Wildlife Refuge is a prime spot for birdwatchers to see herons and water birds, especially in early morning and at sunset. The Cueva del Indio, a natural cave within the refuge, draws visitors who want to explore the region's hidden spaces.
