Tam Kỳ

Tam Kỳ is a provincial capital in Quảng Nam on the South Central Coast of Vietnam, stretching along wide boulevards and the Tam Kỳ River. The city sits roughly 70 kilometers south of Da Nang and serves as the region's administrative center.

The city began as a tax collection post in 1906 during the Nguyễn dynasty and became the provincial capital in 1997. In 2006, it gained the status of a Class-2 city, solidifying its role as a key regional center.

Tam Thanh Mural Village showcases more than a hundred houses adorned with paintings created by Korean artists and local volunteers, depicting scenes from everyday Vietnamese life. These artworks shape the visual character of the area and encourage visitors to wander through the decorated streets.

Visitors reach the city through Chu Lai International Airport, located about 30 kilometers away with regular connections to major Vietnamese cities. Local transport by taxi, motorbike, or bus makes it easy to explore different parts of the area.

The city is known for Tam Kỳ chicken rice, a dish made with free-range chickens and aromatic rice seasoned with local herbs and spices from the region. This specialty can be found and enjoyed in many local restaurants.
