Long Thanh International Airport, International airport project in Dong Nai province, Vietnam.
Long Thanh International Airport is a major new airport project in Dong Nai province, located approximately 40 kilometers east of Ho Chi Minh City. The facility will feature a 4,000-meter runway and contemporary terminal buildings designed to handle the region's expanding air travel demand.
The Vietnamese government began this major infrastructure initiative in 2021 to reduce congestion at the existing Tan Son Nhat International Airport. The project represents a strategic investment in modernizing and expanding the region's aviation infrastructure.
The development required the relocation of 13,000 residents from agricultural communities, leading to new settlement areas in Dong Nai province.
The first phase of operations is expected to be ready by 2026 and will handle approximately 25 million passengers annually. Direct road connections link the new facility to Ho Chi Minh City, making access straightforward for travelers.
The terminal buildings are designed from the outset to expand and eventually handle up to 100 million passengers annually. This forward-thinking approach allows the airport to adapt to future growth projections without requiring major reconstruction.
