Kon Ka Kinh National Park

Kon Ka Kinh National Park is a large protected area in Vietnam's central highlands that covers mountainous terrain with forests and varied habitats. The park spans 47,000 hectares at elevations between 570 and 1,748 meters, with forests that change as you climb higher.

The park was established in 2002 when the government transformed a former nature reserve into a national park focused on wildlife protection. This change recognized the region's ecological importance and created stronger safeguards for the highland forests.

Several ethnic minority communities live near the park and maintain their traditional ways of life through farming and local practices. Walking through nearby villages, you can observe how these groups have shaped the land and continue to preserve their customs today.

You will need to arrange transportation from Pleiku city, located about 50 kilometers away, and coordinate with local authorities before visiting. Planning your visit ahead of time and traveling with an experienced local guide helps you navigate the terrain safely.

Scientists discovered the Chestnut-eared Laughingthrush bird species here in 2001, a bird found nowhere else in the world. This rare discovery revealed that the park's forests harbor species that exist only within its boundaries.
