Thống Nhất Park, Public park in Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi, Vietnam.
Thống Nhất Park is a public park in the Hai Ba Trung district of Hanoi covering 50 hectares with a seven-hectare lake at its center. Several paths lead through gardens filled with tropical vegetation and connect different areas with seating and shaded spots under old trees.
The grounds were established in 1961 and served as a meeting place for officials and citizens in the north during the division of the country. After 1975 it was renamed and transformed into a recreational space for the entire population.
The name refers to the reunification of the country in 1975, a theme visible through monuments and sculptures placed throughout the grounds. Local residents use the early morning hours for tai chi and badminton on the open spaces along the lakeshore.
The gates open daily from 5 in the morning until half past eight in the evening, with the quietest hours falling in late morning. Motorcycle parking is located at the entrances and costs 5,000 VND per day.
A glass structure on a small island was redesigned in 2017 to represent the Truong Sa archipelago in miniature form, displaying its geography on a reduced scale. Visitors can enter the building and view the representation of the distant island group up close.
