The French colonial structure features a yellow and cream facade with ornate sculptures, bas-reliefs, and a central tower with a clock.
The building, completed in 1908 at a cost of 1.5 million French francs, served as the French colonial administration headquarters.
The building's architectural elements incorporate French Revolutionary symbols, including representations of Marianne and themes of liberty.
While the interior remains closed to visitors, the illuminated exterior creates an excellent backdrop for evening photographs from Nguyen Hue Boulevard.
The city hall opened its doors to the public for the first time in April 2023 during Vietnam's Reunification Day celebrations.
