Ho Chi Minh City Hall

Ho Chi Minh City Hall, Government building in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Ho Chi Minh City Hall is a French colonial structure in District 1 with a yellow and cream facade. The building displays elaborate sculptures, bas-reliefs, and a central tower topped with a clock.

The building was completed in 1908 as the administrative center of French colonial rule. It served as the headquarters for French governance in Vietnam during the colonial period.

The building displays French republican ideals through its architectural details that remain visible today. These symbols reflect the values that French colonialism left behind in the city.

The interior is typically closed to visitors, but the illuminated exterior makes for excellent evening photographs. The nearby Nguyen Hue Boulevard offers the best viewpoint.

The building opened to the public for the first time in 2023 during the country's Reunification Day celebrations. This rare access let visitors step inside a location that had remained closed since its completion.
