Kinh tế Hải Phòng, Economic development zone in Hai Phong, Vietnam.
Kinh tế Hải Phòng, also known as the Hải Phòng Economic Zone, is an industrial and commercial area on the northern coast of Vietnam, where manufacturing plants, port facilities, and warehouses sit side by side. The zone is divided into several distinct areas, each focused on different sectors ranging from heavy industry to electronics and logistics.
After the economic reforms of 1986, Hải Phòng gradually opened to foreign investment and shifted from a city focused on the state sector to a modern industrial base. The expansion of port infrastructure was a key factor in drawing new industries to the area.
Hải Phòng has long been tied to the sea, and that connection shapes the daily life of the city today. Dock workers, traders, and factory workers share the same streets, giving the place a working character that feels lived-in and direct.
The zone covers a large area, so it is worth identifying your destination in advance before heading out, as many sections are active work areas with limited visitor access. Having a vehicle makes moving between different parts of the zone much more practical.
Hải Phòng is one of the few places in Vietnam where shipbuilding and electronics manufacturing coexist within the same economic zone. This mix means that heavy industry and high-tech production literally operate side by side, which is rare in the region.
